Patient Care
Rochester Cardiopulmonary Group Joins UR Medicine

The Rochester Cardiopulmonary Group, which has served the Rochester region for four decades, has joined UR Medicine, creating the region’s largest and most experienced heart team.
“This is a partnership that allows us to provide our patients with a wider range of therapies and technology, and importantly, the greatest quality of life,” said Eduardo Arazoza, M.D., president and CEO of RCPG.
The practice also includes cardiologists Thomas Curran, M.D., Patricia Fitzpatrick, M.D., Mark Hamer, M.D., Seth Jacobson, M.D., Vijay Krishnamoorthy, M.D., Kevin McGrody, M.D., Parag Patel, M.D., Krishna Rao, M.D., Thomas Stuver, M.D., Maurice Vaughan, M.D. and Roy Wiener, M.D. More than half of the seasoned cardiologists trained at the Strong Memorial Hospital.
“Expanding to more than 50 cardiologists strengthens UR Medicine’s position as the leader in heart care in the state, outside of New York City,” said Charles Lowenstein, M.D., chief of Cardiology.
U.S. News & World Report recently gave UR Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital the highest scores for cardiology and cardiac surgeryamong hospitals in Upstate New York. UR Medicine provides comprehensive heart care – from the management of hypertension, an early warning sign of heart disease, to the use of mechanical assist devices and heart transplantation.
UR Medicine Heart and Vascular has specialty programs in heart rhythm and valve disorders, lipid and hypertension management, cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology, women’s heart health and cardiac imaging. It is the only team in the area to offer programs for heart transplantation, mechanical assist devices, transcatheter aortic valve replacement and cardio-oncology follow-up.
“We are pleased to provide the full continuum of heart care to patients in Rochester and throughout the Finger Lakes region,” Arazoza said.
The practice was formed in 1974 and became one of the largest private cardiology groups in the area. This week, RCPG opened a new office at 999 E. Ridge Road in Irondequoit and physicians will continue to provide care at 30 Hagen Drive in Linden Oaks Medical Campus through November. They also have offices in Newark and Hornell.
In addition to those four sites, UR Medicine Heart and Vascular cardiologists have offices at Clinton Crossings in Brighton, Strong West in Brockport, Wellsville, Dansville, Geneseo, Warsaw, Seneca Falls, Penn Yan, and Clifton Springs in addition to Highland and F.F. Thompson hospitals.
