The Inpatient Oncology Unit at Highland Hospital (West 7) offers a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. We take into consideration the medical, functional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of our patients.
Our programs and services are designed to promote self-care, foster independence, and promote a sense of well-being. The Highland Hospital West 7 health care team is committed to meeting the individual needs of each of our patients.
We offer expertise in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Our oncology services include traditional cancer treatments, such as:
- Chemotherapy
- Radiation therapy
- Surgical oncology
Some cancer treatments involve admission to the inpatient oncology unit at Highland Hospital, while other treatments are carried out on an outpatient basis. Learn more about East 5, our dedicated Women's Inpatient Unit.
Meet Our Specialists
Patient & Family Resources
Highland Hospital offers a variety of resources and services to assist patients and families as they work through a diagnosis of cancer. A Patient/Family Resource Library is available on West 7. This library contains pamphlets and books on a variety of cancer-related topics.
Educational videotapes that provide information on cancer treatments and coping with cancer are available for patient and family viewing.
Adjacent to the patient/family lounge is a patient education board that displays information related to cancer treatments and side effects.
Emotional support services are available for patients and families having a difficult time adjusting to the diagnosis of cancer. Psychiatric nurse clinicians, the hospital chaplain, the oncology nurse practitioner, and oncology social worker are happy to meet with patients and families during their hospitalization.
