Biography

Dr. Silberstein is Professor of Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Neurology and Orthopedics at URMC and the Golisano Children's Hospital. His neurosurgical practice specializes in pediatric neurosurgery as well as adults with tumors of the brain and spine. He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and interned in General Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Rutgers Medical School at Camden New Jersey Campus. He completed his Neurosurgery training at the University of Connecticut/Hartford Hospital training program. This included a 6-month clinical research fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Silberstein completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 2000-2001. Dr. Silberstein is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons as well as the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has professional hospital and administrative appointments at Strong Memorial Hospita (URMC), Golisano Children’s Hospital, Rochester General Hospital and Highland Hospita,l all located in Rochester, NY. He has membership in the American Medical Association, New York State Medical Society, Monroe County Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Silberstein has been the program director for the University of Rochester neurosurgical residency training program since 2009.
