Professional Background

Dr. Fries is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at the University of Rochester. She completed medical school at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, followed by pediatric residency, chief residency, and fellowship training at the University of Rochester.

Research

Dr. Fries is an early-career physician/scientist with an interest in translational research efforts to improve the care of children with lymphoid malignancies, particularly acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoma. Her ultimate goal is to construct a career niche focused on improving patient risk stratification to prevent relapse while minimizing unnecessary treatment toxicity. She has been trained in deep sequencing methods for evaluating genetic variation in lymphoid malignancies, with a particular interest in immunoglobulin sequencing techniques for the study of diverse clonal composition in B cell ALL.
