Healthy Travel Starts Here
Planning an international trip? University of Rochester Medicine Travel Medicine, in partnership with Passport Health, helps travelers prepare for international travel with personalized travel health consultations, recommended travel vaccines, and destination-specific health and safety guidance.
Our travel medicine nurses help you understand the health risks associated with your destination and the steps you can take to protect your health before, during, and after your trip.
Our Approach
Every destination has different health considerations. Our team works together to support travelers before departure. The medical director, James A. Tacci, MD, JD, MPH, provides clinical oversight, while the nurses conduct travel consultations and serve as clinical contacts for patients.
During a one-on-one consultation, a travel medicine nurse reviews your itinerary and health needs to help you prepare for your trip.
Travel Health Consultations
Your consultation may include guidance on:
- Travel vaccines and routine immunizations recommended for your destination
- Food and water safety while traveling
- Insect bites and other potential sources of infection
- Health and safety precautions for planned activities and local conditions
- Climate, altitude, and other environmental considerations
- Medications and other travel health products
- Travel health insurance considerations
Your nurse will help you understand which precautions may be appropriate for your destination and travel plans.
