Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship

Why Choose Our Program?

The Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program at URMC is a top-tier training program with emphasis on clinical and interventional skills, along with a focus on clinical electrophysiology research. Training in a wide range of cardiac electrophysiologic and pacing procedures is provided, including complex catheter ablation for arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, typical and atypical atrial flutters as well as ventricular tachycarrhythmias.  Fellowship training will include implantation and management of a variety of cardiac implantable electronic devices such implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices. Fellows will gain experience in device and lead management topics including laser lead extraction. Our close affiliation with the faculty group at the Clinical Cardiology Research Center provides an excellent opportunity to conduct research using a variety of existing databases from the series of MADIT trial, RAID trial, and the International Long QT Registry.

Our fellows enjoy the collegiality of the faculty, and will find Rochester and its surroundings an affordable mid-sized city with plenty of recreational opportunities.

What Our Graduates are Saying

John Bibawy, MD

The CCEP program at URMC is one of a kind. Headed by Dr. David Huang, not only are you getting top notch clinical EP training, but the attendings guide you in developing and enhancing your lab skills in a graded and purposeful fashion. They do not allow you to feel overwhelmed but instead teach you how to approach all various forms of complexity. Additionally, they mentor you to explore novel techniques and create an environment of collegiality.

After graduating, you will feel a sense of confidence but still be humbled by such an amazing and privileged field in cardiology. You will know that not only have you gained mentors but also friends along the way. CCEP at URMC was an amazing experience and I would gladly recommend it to all seeking a future in electrophysiology.
