About the Program
Our Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME accredited program that encompasses a full range of upper extremity surgery from the shoulder to the finger tip. Our Fellows will be trained by surgeons renowned in all aspects of surgery of the upper extremity including:
- Post-traumatic reconstruction
- Non-traumatic acquired problems
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Congenital conditions
- Reconstructive microsurgery and replantation
- Peripheral nerve surgery
- Elbow surgery
- Hand surgery
- Shoulder surgery
- Open and arthroscopic techniques
- Sports medicine suited to the upper extremity
Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship Faculty
Hand and Wrist Services
Fellows will rotate with six faculty, spending ample time with each while seeing patients in our modern, state-of-the-art Clinton Crossings, Greece and Penfield offices. Surgical venues include the Clinton Crossings procedure room, Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, and Sawgrass Surgery Center. Our Fellows will also enjoy the opportunity to become involved in basic and clinical research in our Center for Musculoskeletal Research. Our fellowship begins August 1 each year.
Applications are due December 15th. Applications should be made via the ASSH website. Interview dates to be determined.
Competitive applicants should have completed a residency in orthopaedics or plastic surgery. Applicants with a background in general surgery should demonstrate specific hand surgery training and special qualifications.
We participate in the NRMP matching program.
