Megan Baumgart, MD

Welcome to our program!

The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center is a three-year ACGME-accredited training program for qualified applicants who have completed three years of ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency training and who are eligible to take the American Board of Internal Medicine examination.

Our program is designed to cultivate productive academic careers through an experience that combines solid clinical training from internationally renowned experts in hematology and oncology at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute. Our training has a strong emphasis on either basic science or clinical research. A high faculty to fellows ratio affords a significant level of individual attention and opportunities for mentorship.

A substantial portion of fellowship training is dedicated to research methodology and its application. Academic productivity and success is facilitated by frequent meetings with preceptors and mentors. Our fellows' research endeavors culminate in presentations at national and international conferences and publication of work in peer-reviewed journals.

We are thrilled that all of our fellowship positions in our Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program for the 2019-2020 academic year have been filled. We have 4 fellowship positions per year.

We are welcoming applications for the 2020-21 fellowship year. We exclusively use ERAS for application submissions and participate in the NRMP Match. Applications for the program MUST BE IN SUBMITTED VIA ERAS starting July 15, 2020 when we will begin reviewing applications and offering interview dates.

Interviews for the 2020-21 fellowship year will be conducted virtually and will occur on selected days in September and October 2020.

If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Megan Baumgart or Dina Henchen, Fellowship Program Coordinator, at (585) 275-4797.
