The ACGME-accredited, one-year Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at University of Rochester Medicine and Golisano Children's is well recognized for the delivery of outstanding anesthesia services to more than 7,500 children each year. Golisano Children's provides tertiary care in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and recovers some of the most critical neonates and children in upstate New York and the Tri-State region.
The mission of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center is to provide state of the art training and clinical experience in a multidisciplinary academic environment so that fellows can achieve competence in patient care, medical knowledge, practice based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills and systems based practice in the field of pediatric anesthesia. This mission aligns with the University of Rochester motto, "Meliora," which means "ever better" in preparing anesthesiologists to become expert consultant pediatric anesthesiologists and perioperative physicians in both academic and private practice settings, as well as participate in patient safety systems for the benefit of all children in Western New York and throughout the nation.
Our faculty are actively involved in the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology (SPA). This year's annual meeting included 3 PBLD's from our department, as well as numerous posters and an abstract. Our fellow is actively encouraged to attend and participate. For the past two years our fellow has presented a PBLD at SPA, and all our past and current fellows have presented posters.
