How to Apply
Our Resident Family
Thank you for your interest in the Pediatric Neurology Residency Program at the University of Rochester.
Please note that we only accept applications submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
For medical students applying in the 2016 Match, we are accepting applications for 2 categorical positions and 1 reserved position. The categorical positions will include two years of graduate training in Pediatrics and three years of graduate training in Child Neurology at the University of Rochester. There is one application process for those positions, and no need to apply separately to the two programs. The reserved position is geared toward a current Pediatrics resident or individual who has completed residency training in Pediatrics. This position will include three years of graduate training in Child Neurology at the University of Rochester starting in July 2017.
Please also note that, in accordance with our residency selection policy, we are unable to consider any applications from foreign medical graduates who are not ECFMG certified at the time of application to the residency program. We also only sponsor J-1 Visas.
Interviews for invited applicants take place on Mondays (Child Neurology) and Tuesdays (Pediatrics), from October through January. Candidates are requested to arrive in Rochester on Sunday afternoon so they may meet with current Neurology residents for dinner that evening. The interview program will begin on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. The interview program includes orientation meetings with the Adult and Child Neurology program directors, a tour of the clinical and research facilities, lunch with the Neurology residents, Child Neurology Patient of the Week conference, and individual interviews with members of the faculty. Applicants should indicate any specific clinical or investigative interests so additional interviews can be arranged.
On Monday night, applicants will be invited to dinner with the Pediatric residents. On Tuesday, applicants will attend an orientation meeting for the Pediatrics residency and will have individual interviews. The program will conclude by 10:30 a.m.
The Department of Neurology will arrange and pay for overnight accommodations for Sunday and Monday night for all applicants invited for an interview. Please note that applicants applying for the reserved position will only be interviewing on Monday with dinner on Sunday night. The interview experience will conclude at 4:30 PM on Monday.
The Department of Neurology will arrange and pay for overnight accommodations at the Strathallan Hotel for Sunday night for applicants invited for an interview. The Strathallan is located in the heart of Rochester’s museum, culture, and art center, and is close to downtown and many local attractions.
