Residents experience the general practice setting of common orthopaedic problems in a community based hospital. Residents are exposed to a high-volume outpatient orthopaedic surgery center. Clinical material from over 190,000 outpatient visits and 12,000 surgical procedures annually. Outstanding didactic program with daily lectures that are teleconferenced for viewing live from all clinical locations. Musculoskeletal Research Center with high-powered research faculty to provide an avenue for exploration of questions arising from clinical orthopaedic care. We have unique orthopaedic-plastic training. The Geriatric Fracture Center at Highland Hospital is renowned for innovation and excellence in treating bone fractures in elderly patients. Work at ACS Level 1 Trauma Center at Strong Memorial Hospital. Work at our state of the art Golisano Children's Hospital providing pediatric orthopaedic services in the region. Special Elective opportunities available during chief year. Dedicated research time during third, fourth, and chief years of residency. Weekly hands-on skills training at the DeHaven Orthopaedic Skills Laboratory. Month-long intern skills training program ("boot camp"). iPad and books/library provided for new residents.
