The Structural Biology & Biophysics Facility offers support services and access to state-of-the-art instruments to determine macromolecular X-ray crystal structures, and to investigate protein-protein, protein-nucleic acid, or protein-small molecule interactions.
The facility is a University of Rochester research resource located within the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics. Our goal is to provide non-specialist and specialist users with access to biophysical instrumentation. More info...
High Resolution NMR Facility
Varian Unity INOVA 600 NMR spectrometer.
The High Resolution NMR Facility houses a state-of-the-art Varian Unity INOVA 600 NMR spectrometer equipped with four RF channels, pulsed field gradient accessory and triple resonance probes. A GE Omega 400 (wide bore) spectrometer is also available in the facility. There are a few SGI and SUN Unix workstations available for data analysis and structure calculation. This facility is Located in the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics, and is Directed by Prof. Scott Kennedy. In addition, the Chemistry department has a Varian Unity INOVA 500 spectrometer which is well suited for NMR studies of macromolecules, as well as an additional 500 MHz and two 400 MHz NMR spectrometers for student use. That facility is run by Prof. Thomas Krugh.
