Postdoctoral Position - Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology Division of the Department of Medicine at the University of Rochester. We are interested in a postdoctoral candidate with research experience in both molecular biology, biochemistry, and animal work. The position is funded for up to three years and will focus on vascular and fibrotic outcomes in systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) using a combination of in vitro and in vivo techniques. Two specific areas of emphasis will include (i) assessment and modulation of dermal fibrosis through perturbations in molecular pathways related to adipogenesis and (ii) characterization and modulation of the complement pathway in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, proactive attitude, attention to detail, and good work ethic. The individual must be dependable, and able to work both independently and in a team setting.

A strong candidate will have:

  • A PhD in Pathology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related disciplines or MD or MD/PhD and relevant experience
  • Prior experience in molecular biology, cell culture, histologic techniques, and animal studies. Preference will be given to individuals with previous research experience in the areas of fibrosis, skin biology, or vascular biology
  • Proven ability to present and publish research data
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
