Postdoc Position in the Department of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester

Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to work in the field of brain imaging and computational neuroscience. The overarching goal is for the candidate to develop state of the art machine learning and image processing methods to understand complex neuronal mechanisms behind normal aging and neurodegenerative diseases.  The position will be primarily held in the Department of Imaging Sciences, while jointly sponsored by the CogT Lab (https://www.cogtlab.com/), a clinical neuroscience lab focusing on successful cognitive aging and dementia prevention, and the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology. The main research areas will include: (1) statistical brain imaging analysis, focusing on MRI (e.g., structural, functional and diffusional modalities) and PET data; (2) network analysis; (3) theoretical and clinical background on cognitive aging and dementia; (4) image processing algorithm development. The candidate will also have opportunities to participate in research protocol design and data collection related to monitoring cognitive aging and dementia, as well as other imaging-related projects within the Department of Imaging Sciences.

Position Qualifications

The candidate should hold a doctoral degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or biomedical engineering, with interest in imaging data analysis, functional analysis, and image processing. Candidates with strong computational skills (proficient in one or more programming languages, C/C++, Python, R, Matlab) are especially encouraged to apply.  The University of Rochester is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Institution.  Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
