Position Statement: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity
UR Medicine Home Care, as part of the University of Rochester community, welcomes, encourages, and supports individuals who desire to contribute to and benefit from our mission to preserve and enhance the quality-of-life for the people and communities we serve. We achieve this through comprehensive, high-quality health care at home delivered with compassion and integrity. We strive for a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all employees and volunteers feel valued and respected.
Our staff, volunteers, and patients come from different geographical areas and represent differences in race, ethnicities, religious beliefs, values, socioeconomic backgrounds, ages, sexual orientation, gender identities and diverse points of view. They may also be physically different, have different intellectual interests, or have different abilities. UR Medicine Home Care welcomes such differences and actively seeks to recruit and include diverse personnel in all aspects of our operations.
As a provider of health care in people’s homes, we see first-hand how the social determinants of health can negatively affect those with health care challenges, ultimately leading to chronic illness and in some cases premature death. By virtue of our role within the UR Medicine continuum of health care delivery, we are uniquely positioned to help advance health equity for all. We do this by intentionally, and purposefully embracing our diversity as we proactively address the social determinants of health that threaten optimal health outcomes and prevent positive care experiences.
UR Medicine Home Care pledges to provide home care and medicine of the highest order to all our patients, with a workforce built on integrity and inclusion, across the many diverse communities that we live and serve.
