How We Use Your Gift

Elderly woman thinking

Give to UR Medicine Home Care

Every day, UR Medicine Home Care goes above and beyond for our patients and staff alike to keep people healthy, safe, and independent in their homes. Unrestricted gifts to our Foundation allows UR Medicine Home Care to address areas of greatest need within our organization, and to provide the highest quality of care to patients regardless of cuts to federal funding. Your support also gives us the flexibility to respond quickly when an opportunity arises to transform patient care through innovative technology and new care delivery models.

Give to Meals On Wheels

Each year, Meals On Wheels of Rochester and Monroe County provides 230,000 high-quality meals to 1,400 frail seniors and people who are unable to prepare their own meals due to a physical or developmental disability. With donor support, we have been helping thousands of people regain their strength, increase their independence, and improve their overall quality of life since 1958. As our population ages, the number of people in need of meals continues to grow. Meals On Wheels is not covered by insurance, and although we are grateful for funding from the United Way and the Monroe County Office of the Aging, we cannot rely solely upon these sources to meet the increasing demand for meals. Your gift of $160 will provide 20 meals; $800 will provide 100 meals; and $2,920 will provide 365 meals – enough to ensure a home bound senior’s health and independence for an entire year.

Give to Hospice

UR Medicine Hospice provides end-of-life care to over 1,700 patients in Monroe, Ontario and Yates County each year. Our team of physicians, nurses, home health aides, counselors, and volunteers go above and beyond to make this difficult time as comfortable and dignified as possible for every patient, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Bereavement Program at UR Medicine Home Care offers care to families to help address feelings of loss, grief, and sorrow before and after a loved one has died, at no cost to them. These services include support groups, individual counseling, an Evening of Remembrance, Camp Heartstrings/Camp Dreams, Annual Butterfly Release, and volunteer services such as companionship and supportive phone calls. Since bereavement services are not covered under Medicare, this important program is entirely dependent on donor generosity.
