Services

Our program encompasses the non-surgical component of the multidisciplinary UR Medicine Spine Center. We start with a comprehensive medical evaluation and discussion of conservative treatment options. Most symptoms related to spinal conditions can be treated with spine education, ergonomic recommendations, activity modification, topical modalities, bracing, medication, a diagnosis specific, exercise focused physical rehabilitation program and/or non-surgical interventional spine procedures. These measures are incorporated into a comprehensive multimodal treatment program of spinal conditions. This empowers patients to be educated proactive participants in the management of their spinal condition which is crucial in achieving long-term success and return to a healthy, active lifestyle.

Treatments offered by our Physiatrists include:

  • Medical evaluation and treatment. The vast majority of symptoms related to spinal conditions can be treated conservatively with relative rest, education, activity, and/or work modification, bracing, medication, and/or active physical rehabilitation. These measures are almost always incorporated into the treatment program of spinal conditions as they empower patients to be proactive with acute management and can be crucial in achieving long-term success.
  • Image-Guided Spine-Specific Injections. Our interventional spine specialists are experts at utilizing x-ray guidance to deliver powerful anti-inflammatory medication (cortisone) safely and precisely to the potentially inflamed swollen spinal structure responsible for your symptoms.
