Dr. Evans is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, and the Hematopathology Fellowship Program Director. He serves as an attending physician specializing in Hematopathology at Strong Memorial Hospital, and served as a Wilmot Cancer Research Fellow at the Wilmot Cancer Institute. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Emory University School of Medicine, and completed his residency and fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He is board certified in both Anatomic Pathology and Hematopathology by the American Board of Pathology. Prior to his doctoral studies he earned a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Chicago, and spent a year doing research at the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Evans' clinical responsibilities include the diagnostic evaluation of blood, bone marrow, lymph nodes, and other tissues for hematologic and other malignancies. This includes histopathologic and flow cytometric evaluation, along with interpretation of molecular and cytogenetic testing.

My current research focuses on the molecular, genetic, and immunologic mechanisms that underlie leukemia and lymphoma development. Specifically, which microenvironmental interactions influence the development and persistence of these diseases. Other interests include the role of chronic viruses in lymphoma development, and the genetic characteristics that influence diagnosis and treatment of pre-myeloid leukemias or myelodysplastic syndromes.
