Ms. Gunderson underwent her PA training at the Rochester Institute of Technology Physician Assistant program. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree and graduated in May 2009 and is currently certified by the NCCPA and licensed in New York State. She started her career in hospital medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital fall 2009 where she gained incredible experience in general medicine and in caring for patients. In the spring of 2015 she accepted a new position in the Wilmot Cancer Institute as the Ambulatory Thoracic and Head & Neck Medical Oncology PA where she works with Dr. Megan Baumgart in the care of adult patients diagnosed with head and neck cancers as well as thoracic or lung cancers.
She completed her Masters of Science in Health Professions Education at the Warner School of Education at UR in 2019. She is the director of the WCI APP Fellowship Program and achieved her Senior PA at URMC in September, 2022.
She has had a long-time interest in caring for patients with cancer after experiencing a loved one pass away from pancreatic cancer. She loves most to be there for patients while undergoing their treatments and at the end of life when needed. She appreciates the need for patient education and hopes to help make sure her patients understand what's happening and how their medications and treatments work.
