Dr. Patrawala is a native of Rochester, NY. She completed both her undergraduate and medical education at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. There, she was selected to the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education, which is a 7 year direct medical school program. In undergrad, she majored in Environmental Science and remains passionate about the environment. She graduated with a B.A., summa cum laude. During medical school she spent one year in Berlin, Germany, working both in a reproductive toxicology lab as well as in a hospital. Upon return, she then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. After residency, she worked for two years at Sparrow Hospital/Michigan State University before returning to Rochester as a member of the Hospital Medicine Division. Currently, she is the Medical Director for unit 6-1400 and co-leader of her unit’s Pursuing Excellence team. Her research interests lie in quality improvement and high value care, for which she has presented posters at several national conferences. She is a member of the Department of Medicine Women’s group as well as the Department of Medicine’s Medical Informatics committee. Additionally, she works with AHRQ antibiotic stewardship and plays an active role in resident and medical student education on their clinical rotations.
