Research Overview:
The Anderson Laboratory develops and investigates next generation vaccines. Traditional vaccine approaches have led to over 20 human vaccines, one of the greatest preventative medical achievements of the last century. Unfortunately, these classic approaches have been ineffective in inducing long-lasting, protective immunity against the remaining majority of human pathogens. Exciting new approaches have recently emerged in the world of vaccine research including novel delivery techniques (e.g. mRNA Lipid-nanoparticles and viral-vector) and regimens (e.g. bivalent vaccines and heterologous-prime-boost). The Anderson Laboratory incorporates novel computational modeling and state-of-the-art experimental approaches to develop and understand next generation vaccines with an aim to induce long-lasting, broadly-neutralizing, humoral immunity to viruses such as Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Influenza, Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and SARS-CoV-2.
