Lydie Tubene, OD, is an Instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute. Lydie Tubene, OD, is an Instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute. She is licensed to practice optometry in the State of New York as part of the Eye Institute’s Optometry residency program. She sees patients at the Eye Institute’s main campus, Webster, and Geneva locations.

Dr. Tubene completed an undergraduate degree in physiology and neurobiology at the University of Maryland. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry with research honors at the Illinois College of Optometry. During her studies she received extensive clinical experience through externships in private practices, the Medical College of Wisconsin and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This included emergency eye care and triage, pediatrics, low vision, specialty contacts, post-operative care, and medical glaucoma treatment. Her research interests include myopia progression and visual field testing.

As a specialist with an emphasis in ocular disease, Dr. Tubene sees patients from tweens to the elderly and works with the Eye Institute’s subspecialists to diagnose, treat and appropriately refer for advanced medical and surgical care. She routinely manages a variety conditions and performs the following services including:

• General eye exams
• Glaucoma
• Diabetic eye disease screenings
• Contact lens fitting and spectacle prescribing
• Pre- and post-operative cataract care
• Ocular surface disease
• Managing and triaging emergencies
