Elaine Ho, OD, is an Instructor of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute. She is licensed to practice optometry in the State of New York as part of the Eye Institute’s Optometry residency program. She sees patients at the Eye Institute’s main campus, Webster, and Geneva locations.

Dr. Ho completed an undergraduate degree in biochemistry at UCLA before going on to earn her doctorate in optometry at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Visual Science at UC Berkeley. During her studies she received extensive clinical experience through clinical rotations in private practice, the Veterans Administration, and in academic medicine at Berkeley. This included primary eye care, traumatic brain injury vision issues, community care, contact lens and ocular disease. During her undergraduate experience she worked with UCLA’s mobile eye clinic and later worked as an optometric intern in private practice, prior to entering optometry school.

As a specialist with an emphasis in ocular disease, Dr. Ho sees patients from tweens to the elderly and works with the Eye Institute’s subspecialists to diagnose, treat and appropriately refer for advanced medical and surgical care. She routinely manages a variety conditions and performs the following services including:

• Glaucoma
• General eye exams
• Diabetic eye disease screenings
• Contact lens fitting and spectacle prescribing
• Pre- and post-operative cataract care
• Ocular surface disease
• Managing and triaging emergencies
