Member Offerings & Expectations

What Does the Academy Offer to Me?

  • Education Resources. Focusing on the areas of Teaching, Curriculum Development, Assessment, Advising & Mentorship, and Education Leadership & Administration, the URMC Academy curates existing and creates new resources to help you be the best educator.
  • Consulting for Educators. Academy leadership and other members will provide insight on your academic projects, help with navigating resources, and ways to be part of the academic medicine community beyond URMC.
  • Vetted Opportunities. The Academy will amplify opportunities for medical educators, including calls for proposals and award nominations.
  • Community. Within a complex health system, education can be overlooked in favor of clinical responsibilities and research achievements. We believe teaching is an equally important priority and so do our members. The Academy is a place to find your people and your intellectual home.

Attendance & Participation in Academy or Partner Events

  • Plan to commit 10-20 hours per year to Academy-related work (could include committee meetings, training sessions, consultation, etc.)
  • Attend Academy meetings as schedules allow, sharing conflicts with Academy leadership ahead of time, if possible

Engage in Community Building

  • Join with fellow health professions educators to grow, collaborate, share resources, and create a robust network of educators with collective identity

Communicate with Academy Leaders

  • The leaders want to hear what works (and what doesn’t) for educators at URMC; this may also lead to broader input within the health system
  • Provide regular updates on achievements, awards, projects, and new roles – the Academy aims to celebrate as well as educate
