Support & Survivorship

Support

Testicular cancer can affect many different aspects of your life. The Wilmot Cancer Institute provides the most extensive support services for patients and their families in the area. We focus on seeing the whole patient through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. This includes expertise in Survivorship and Palliative Care.

Survivorship

A healthy life after cancer is the goal of every patient. But the best way to achieve that varies widely — depending on you, your type of cancer, and the treatment you received. The Wilmot Cancer Institute offers the area’s only Survivorship Program. Each patient receives a comprehensive, personalized plan for life after testicular cancer. To learn more about the program, talk with your care team.

Palliative Care

At Wilmot, physicians from UR Medicine’s Palliative Care Program are key members of the cancer care team. Palliative care focuses on alleviating pain and symptoms — such as nausea and shortness of breath — that can come with any serious illness like cancer and its treatment. Sometimes confused with hospice, palliative care is different. It can accompany any and all desired medical treatments for cancer or other conditions. Palliative care is about helping patients and their families live better while undergoing treatment.
