The 2nd Annual Complex Care Center Conference,
The Future is Today: Transforming the Care of Adults and Children with Pediatric Onset Health Conditions
The conference took place October 29th, 2018. The goal of the CCC is to support adults with complex pediatric-onset conditions in our region by promoting health access and engagement, linking people with community supports, and enhancing the cultural competency and skills of health care providers in the region. The purpose of the conference was to allow for sharing of knowledge among health care providers and service organizations to increase the competence of those who provide care in our community. Dr. Mary Ciccarelli, the Director of the Center for Youth and Adults with Conditions of Childhood at Indiana University Medical Center, gave the keynote address, “Caring for Youth and Young Adults with Pediatric-onset Chronic Health Conditions.” Other conference faculty included, Dr. Robert Marion, from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Neinke Dosa, from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Dr. John Foxe, the Director of the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, and Dr. Michael Mendoza, the Director of the Department of Public Health for Monroe County, among many other insightful speakers. The feedback from the conference was overwhelmingly positive and we have already begun mapping out next year’s conference!
