UR Medicine's Approach
UR Medicine’s Stroke Support Group is a safe, inclusive, and empowering space to share personal stories, access valuable information, celebrate milestones, and receive meaningful support from others with shared experiences. Each hour-long session includes:
- Expert guidance from a mental health professional with expertise in stroke recovery and the challenges that can follow.
- Open, supportive conversations led by a facilitator who listens with empathy, shares helpful insights, and connects the group with valuable community resources.
- Guest speakers from UR Medicine and the greater Rochester community share education and raise awareness about stroke-related topics.

The support group is completely free to attend.
All stroke survivors, caregivers, and family members are welcome. You do not need to be a UR Medicine patient to participate.
This is a virtual support group held via Zoom. Once you register, you’ll receive the meeting link.
No, participation is flexible. You can join as often as you’d like.
