Mental Health Interpreting: A Mentored Curriculum

Mental Health Interpreting: A Mentored Curriculum is a textbook and accompanying video (VHS or DVD) of interpreting vignettes, designed to teach spoken language interpreters and sign language interpreters how to work more effectively in mental health service settings. We also have a number of publications on the topic of mental health interpreting.

My Body, My Responsibility

My Body, My Responsibility is a 62-minute video (VHS or DVD) designed to teach deaf women of all ages important information about sexual development, menstruation and related hygiene, pregnancy and birth, pregnancy prevention, and how to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection. The film features dialogue in American Sign Language, a spoken English vocal track, and English captions (subtitles).

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Products

We also have produced two Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training films. DBT is a form of psychotherapy designed to help individuals with emotional regulation and other matters. Both films feature dialogue in American Sign Language, a spoken English vocal track, and English captions (subtitles). Opposite Action: An Adaptation from the Deaf Perspective deals with "opposite action" a DBT skill useful in overcoming unhealthy emotional and behavioral habits. Practicing Radical Acceptance: An Adaptation from the Deaf Perspective deals with "radical acceptance," a DBT skill useful in coming to terms with life's tragedies and challenges.
