Requirements & Certification

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. One-Year AEGD: Residency Program is designed for dentists who obtained their dental degree from a dental school in either the United States and/or Canada that is accredited by the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). 
  2. One-Year with an Optional Second Year AEGD: Residency Programs is designed for dentists who obtained their first year dental degree from a dental school in either the United States and/or Canada that is accredited by the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). All residents enrolled in the optional second year of training required to demonstrate completion of an accredited (CODA) first year of training in an advanced education in general dentistry or general practice residency program prior to enrollment. If residents’ first year of AEGD is in a progress, the letter of a good standing from AEGD Director (ongoing AEGD program) should be provided.
  3. Two–Year AEGD: These programs are designed for dentists who obtained their dental degree from a dental school in either the United States and/or Canada that is accredited by the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or outside the United States from a non-accredited American Dental Association's (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) dental school.

 

CERTIFICATION:

Certificates of completion are given by University of Rochester Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the completion of the program. 

  1. Residents enrolled in Two-Year AEGD Program will receive the Two-Year certificate at the end of the second year upon satisfactory performance.
  2. Residents enrolled in One-Year AEGD Program will receive the One-Year Certificate at the end of the first year upon satisfactory performance.
  3. Residents enrolled in One-Year AEGD Program with Optional Second Year will receive the One-Year Certificate at the end of the first year upon satisfactory performance.
  4. Residents enrolled in One-Year AEGD Program with Optional Second Year will receive  the Two-Year Certificate at the end of the second  year upon satisfactory performance

 

This certificate is earned by the resident upon satisfactory clinical performance and attendance and participation at lectures and seminars.
