Fellows 2024–2025

Jacklyn Johnson is from New Jersey where she received her medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2020 followed by completing her residency in June 2025 in Child Neurology. Prior to her residency, Dr. Johnson participated in the Penry Pediatric Epilepsy Program in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. While there she gained a thorough understanding of the individual patients needs that are just as important as the clinical and procedural aspects of epilepsy management. Dr. Johnson has found a passion in pursuing a fellowship in pediatric epilepsy and realizing her goal in becoming a Pediatric Neurologist to help children adjust to the debilitating and often life long conditions of epilepsy.

Julissa Veras earned her bachelor's degree at Johns Hopkins University where she studied Neuroscience. She then matriculated into Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and earned her M.D. Julissa completed a child neurology residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center and is currently in her Epilepsy fellowship also at URMC. For Julissa, it was clear that UMRC was the ideal place to advance her career and achieve her professional goal with the support of incredible mentors.
