Colorectal Surgery Elective
Overview
- Comprehensive 2-week clinical experience in colorectal surgery and anorectal diseases during the third fellowship year.
- Focuses on learning the clinical considerations in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of diseases of the anus, colon and rectum as viewed from a surgical perspective.
- Fellows will have exposure to commonly encountered medical and surgical disorders that are diagnosed and treated by colorectal surgeons, many of which will also be encountered in a general gastroenterology practice.
Principal Teaching/Learning Activities
- Two weeks of in-person clinical time with Colorectal Surgery faculty both in the clinical office and procedure suite settings, as well as opportunities to shadow in the operating room.
Problem Mix/Patient Characteristics/Types of Encounters
- Adult ambulatory outpatients seen by the Colorectal Surgery department at URMC.
