I will be joining a Fellowship in Interventional Spine Medicine with the Virginia iSpine Physicians in Richmond Virginia. My future plans include teaching in an academic setting. How has your residency training at the University of Rochester Medical Center prepared you for a career as a Physiatrist? Our program offers well-rounded inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences by an equally diverse, competent and approachable rehabilitation faculty. Kasia Iwan, M.D. What are your plans following residency? I will be staying at the university for a Fellowship in Pain Management in the department of Anesthesiology. My long-term plan is to join an outpatient group practice. How has your residency training at the University of Rochester Medical Center prepared you for a career as a Physiatrist? Our program offers an excellent inpatient experience that has prepared me to deal with any acute situation. The camaraderie between the residents facilitated a great work environment and I have made life-long friends in the process. The strongest influence has been the importance of an interdisciplinary team approach when managing the complex and diverse PM&R patient populations.
