How to Apply

Applications are only accepted through ERAS®. Each application is thoroughly reviewed and selection criteria are subjective. All letters of invitation are sent through ERAS email. Interview slots are limited and are filled on a first-response basis. There are 8 positions per year.

Minimum Requirements

  • No more than three years out of medical school
  • Must have passed the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CS and Step 2 CK (with no failures) before an interview can be granted. Scores of 200 and above are favored (with no more than one failure).
  • We do NOT offer ANY pre-match positions

Information for Foreign Medical Graduates (See minimum requirements above)

  • We do not offer observerships or externships
  • We offer J-1 Visas ONLY
  • You must provide a copy of your ECFMG certificate to the Residency Coordinator before January 10, 2017 (with the exception of those graduating by May 2017) provided that all required steps have been successfully completed.
  • U.S. clinical experience is not necessary but highly recommended.

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation from persons of your choice
  • Medical School Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE Scores
  • If you are a foreign medical graduate, you must provide a hard copy of your ECFMG certificate and a copy of your Medical School diploma prior to the institutional orientation.

PGY-2 or Above

A complete application must include:

  • Our application
  • Personal Statement
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation from persons of your choice
  • Medical School Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • USMLE Scores
  • If you are a foreign medical graduate, please provide a hard copy of your ECFMG certificate and Medical School diploma.

Interview Information

Candidates selected for interviews will have an opportunity to meet with faculty and residents on interview day. There is a dinner with residents on Thursday evening (before the interview day).

Interview dates for July 2017 positions are:

  October 14 November 11 December 9 January 13
  October 21 November 18 December 16 January 20

Applicants who are invited for an interview will be provided with one night's lodging at the program's expense. Accommodations will be made by the program at Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown. Holiday Inn provides a free shuttle service to and from the University on interview day.
