Curriculum

Overall Goals

Our philosophy is to provide residents with an educational and training experience that encompasses all aspects of urology and patient- and family-centered care. Our goals and mission are:

• Provide a foundation of organized instruction based on the AUA Core Curriculum in the basic science of urology.
• Provide well rounded clinical experiences that will expose the trainee to all aspects of urology.
• Prepare the physician for independent practice of clinical urology by providing surgical skills and surgical judgment training based on supervised clinical work with increasing responsibility.
• Provide sufficient training for each graduate to establish, lead and maintain a robot-assisted minimally invasive urology practice without further fellowship and/or full time academic careers.
• Provide an opportunity to develop and maintain an investigative career and/or education career in urology; we aim for 75% of our graduates who pursue a fellowship to ultimately establish careers in academic urology.
• Provide an environment for trainees to develop the many personal attributes necessary for becoming an effective physician including honesty, compassion, reliability and effective communication skills, and to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and ethical urologic care for all patients.
• Provide commitment to fostering a welcoming culture where everyone feels welcome and valued and can thrive and contribute their own unique talents and perspectives.
• Provide a learning environment that fosters wellness and resilience and one that prepares trainees for lifelong learning and delivering high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care for all patients.

Clinic and Operative Experience

All urologic subspecialties are represented by fellowship-trained faculty. Full-time APPs assist with inpatient management and discharges, allowing residents to fully participate in educational activities and operative training.
