Center For Professional Development (CPD)

The CPD’s mission is to supplement every trainee's scientific education with the professional and career development opportunities most appropriate to each individual trainee’s interests and skills. The CPD provides several offerings in areas such as career services, communication, grants and fellowships, research ethics, scientific writing, and more. The CPD employs two full time professionals dedicated to writing and career services and sponsors other organizations throughout the University to equip trainees with the skills and experience required for any career including those in academia, government, industry, and not-for-profit.

URBEST Program

The URBEST Program is one of seventeen programs funded by the NIH to experiment with methods to enhance training opportunities for early career scientists and prepare them for a variety of career options in the dynamic biomedical workforce landscape. BEST’s mission is to Broaden Experiences in Scientific Training for today’s PhD graduate students and postdoctoral scientists. We believe that all biomedical research and science careers are equally valued as successful careers. The URBEST Program aims to Increase the confidence and motivation of trainees to identify and pursue their career goals, and to reduce training time by enabling trainees to more efficiently direct their efforts.
