    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Identify barriers to breastfeeding that mothers encounter when returning to work.
      • Describe the process of pumping breast milk while at work.
      • List storage guidelines for pumped breast milk for home use.
      • Explain reasons for use of donor human milk.
  5. Mastitis

      • Identify two major risk factors for development of mastitis.
      • List both conservative and invasive treatment options for patients with mastitis.

  3. Postoperative Pain Management

      • List major risks for chronic opioid use after surgery and ways to decrease them.
      • Identify pain management strategies to help decrease postoperative opioid use.
      • Discuss evidence for and against the use of specific analgesic agents.
  4. Pain Management of the Obstetric Substance Abuser

      • List common substances abused by pregnant women.
      • Describe adverse physiologic and psychologic effects of pain during labor.
      • Explain challenges associated with pain management in patients with substance use disorder.

  5. Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Define the term “opiate epidemic” and the increased concerns for obstetric management and prenatal counseling.
      • List signs and symptoms of opioid withdrawal in the newborn.
      • Describe nonpharmacologic treatments and interventions for neonatal abstinence.
      • Explain differences between exposure to methadone and buprenorphine.
