Our Breastfeeding Course Bundle includes the following five courses:

  1. Prevention and Treatment of Common Problems in Breastfeeding.
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Explain the significance of medical history, nursing assessment, and physical examination in the support of successful breastfeeding.
      • List five commonly encountered barriers to successful initiation and continuation of lactation and breastfeeding.

  2. Breastfeeding Twins and Higher Order Multiples
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Describe the physiologic progression from lactogenesis to lactation.
      • Discuss common challenges encountered by mothers who breastfeed multiple neonates.
      • Formulate strategies to promote success in breastfeeding multiple neonates.
  3. Breastfeeding and Vitamin D Deficiency in Newborns
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Describe the physiology of vitamin D in the body, its importance in maternal and infant health, and the association between maternal vitamin D status and the vitamin D content of breast milk.
      • Explain American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for the prevention of rickets and their impact on breastfeeding dyads.
  4. Pumping Breast Milk- Returning to Work in the Postpartum Period
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Identify barriers to breastfeeding that mothers encounter when returning to work.
      • Describe the process of pumping breast milk while at work.
      • List storage guidelines for pumped breast milk for home use.
      • Explain reasons for use of donor human milk.
  5. Mastitis
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Identify two major risk factors for development of mastitis.
      • List both conservative and invasive treatment options for patients with mastitis.

Continuing Education Credit

We offer each learner the option to include or exclude fetal monitoring strip interrelation with each course in the bundle.

  • Breastfeeding Course Bundle WITH Fetal Monitoring interpretation: Eligible for 8 CNE Contact Hours, including 4 EFM Hours and 2.25 Pharmacology Hours, and 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
  • Breastfeeding Course Bundle (Excluding Fetal Monitoring interpretation): Eligible for 6.75 CNE Contact Hours, including 2.25 Pharmacology Hours, and 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Cost

Breastfeeding Course Bundle WITH Fetal Monitoring interpretation: $75 per person with access for one year.

Breastfeeding Course Bundle (Excluding Fetal Monitoring interpretation): $55 per person with access for one year.

      • List key components to the Safe Motherhood Initiative Obstetric Postpartum Hemorrhage (SMI OBPPH) Safety bundle.

  3. Respect Sharps - Protect Yourself!
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Describe the proper way to handle and dispose of sharps.
      • List the most serious infections healthcare providers are at risk for in sharps injuries.
      • Identify the appropriate documentation that should be made after a sharps injury.
  4. Communication: The Heart of Healthcare
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Describe how communication affects healthcare outcomes.
      • Define the costs of ineffective communication.
      • Describe effective communication skills.
      • Identify three components that can make communication in healthcare challenging.
  5. Clinical Event Debriefing: A Key Strategy to Support Perinatal Teams
    • Learning Outcomes:
      • Discuss the importance of debriefing for perinatal team support and process improvement.
      • Describe two types of event debriefing.
      • Identify best practices for clinical event debriefing.

Continuing Education Credit

  • Optimizing Maternal Patient Safety Course Bundle WITH Fetal Monitoring interpretation: Eligible for a total of 7.25 CNE Contact Hours, including 3.25 EFM hours and 0.3 Pharmacology Hours, and 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
  • Optimizing Maternal Patient Safety Course Bundle (Excluding Fetal Monitoring interpretation): Eligible for a total of 6.5 CNE Contact Hours, including 0.3 Pharmacology Hours, and 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
