Welcome to the Brewer Lab

The lab focuses on identification of host factors and/or pathways in keratinocytes that are critical for protection against, or susceptibility to, pathogens including bacteria (S. aureus, S. epidermidis), viruses (vaccinia, herpes simplex, varicella zoster), and fungi (Candida and Malassezia spp).

Our long-term goal is to identify druggable targets that boost the epidermal environment's natural resistance to infection, which would help both healthy and diseased patients.
