Emily S. Barrett is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and co-director of the Office of Research Administration. Dr. Barrett’s research focuses on how environmental exposures across the life course affect reproductive function. Dr. Barrett first became interested in this topic during her doctoral work in Biological Anthropology at Harvard University, where her dissertation focused on understand variation in women’s ovarian function. She has since expanded her work to examine how endocrine-disrupting exposures, including environmental chemicals and stress, may impact reproductive development. To that end, she has worked on several large pregnancy cohort studies including the National Children’s Study and the multi-center The Infant Development and the Environment Study (TIDES). She is also principal investigator of several smaller studies including the Environmental Chemicals, Hormones, and the Ovary (ECHO) Study. Dr. Barrett is a scholar in URMC’s NIH-funded Women’s Health and the Environment over the Entire Lifespan (WHEEL) program.

Rebecca A. Rowley, MS is the Research Administrator for the department and co-director of the Office of Research Administration. Trained as a Biochemist, she recently completed her Masters degree at the Simon School. She facilitates the grant process for all Ob/Gyn faculty from the first spark of an idea to the final document hand-off to the sponsor. She is enthusiastic about finding funding for all faculty interested in research. She is also responsible for the post-award management of grants, contracts, and clinical studies. Jessica BrunnerJessica Brunner
Study Coordinator

Jessica Brunner is the study coordinator for Dr. Emily Barrett’s UPSIDE study. She will recruit women during their first trimester and will follow up with them through their pregnancy to 15 months postnatal. She is also the coordinator for Dr. Kimberly O’Brien and Dr. Eva Pressman’s research on vitamin D and infection during pregnancy. Prior to her work at Strong, Jessica worked at the Waisman Center at UW-Madison, researching neurodegenerative diseases. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Outside of work Jessica enjoys sports and outdoor activities, cooking, and travel.

Sarah Caveglia Sarah Caveglia, MPH
Study Coordinator

Sarah Caveglia is a study coordinator for Dr. David Foster and Dr. Adrienne Bonham’s research on vulvodynia and pelvic pain.  She is responsible for recruitment and management of several clinical trials related to pelvic pain.  Prior to her work with pelvic pain patients, she served as a study coordinator for Dr. Pressman and Dr. O’Brien’s study on the iron status of women carrying multiples.  She has a bachelors in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology, and is nearing completion of her MPH from the University of Rochester.

Database Administrator

Ken Edell is the Database Administrator for the department.  He has been with the Ob/Gyn department for nine years and is responsible for managing the birth-related databases which are used for quality assessment and research purposes.

Heather Fiore Heather Fiore, RD, MSEd
Study Coordinator

Heather Fiore, RD, MS Ed is a Study Coordinator for TIDES at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry Study Center.  She is responsible for managing the research study along with Lynda Kochman and Erin Driscoll-Brantley.  Heather will follow up and communicate with women and infants who are participating in the study.  Heather is a Registered Dietitian.  She completed her Nutrition/Dietetics training at Cornell University and also holds a Masters of Health Education from SUNY Brockport.  In addition her position on the TIDES team, she works as a Clinical Nutrition Specialist in the Children’s Diabetes Center at Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. 

Lynda KochmanLynda Kochman, RN
Study Coordinator

Lynda Kochman, RN, CRCC is an experienced clinical coordinator of research studies in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has recruited regionally and coordinated numerous pediatric vaccine trials in the Rochester area since 1985. She joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2001 and has served as the regional site coordinator for several multi-site studies in the Department of OB/GYN. She brings 25 years of experience in study subject recruitment, subject follow-up and cross-site collaboration to the Rochester site. Research coordinating responsibilities include coordinating the recruitment, planning, implementation, on-going conduct, and documentation of clinical research trials sponsored by industry, government and private organizations. Supervision of staff assisting with study. Maintaining SOP’s, data quality and regulatory compliance. Lynda is a registered nurse. She received her nursing degree in Montreal, Canada where she is from originally. She received her certification in clinical research coordinating (CCRC) in 2001. Lynda moved to Rochester in 1979 with her husband where they raised their three now grown children.

Divya KumarDivya Kumar, MPH
Study Coordinator

Divya Kumar, MPH is the study coordinator for Dr. Bala Bhagavath.  Her primary focus is the Global Endometrial Ablation Study.  Divya completed her Masters in Public Health from the University of Rochester and has a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rochester Institute of Technology.  She became interested in clinical research during her Masters program, when she was involved in various research projects.  Outside of work she enjoys traveling as much as possible.

Study Recruiter and Coordinator

Hillary Rich is a study coordinator at Lattimore Women’s Health Practice. She is responsible for the recruitment for multiple ongoing studies, with a primary focus on family planning research. Hillary received her BA from SUNY Geneseo, where she first became interested in research.


Rick Stahlhut

Richard Stahlhut, MD, MPH
Research Assistant Professor

Rick Stahlhut, MD, MPH is Research Assistant Professor in the department and board-certified in preventive medicine. Formerly a medical informatics practitioner and educator, Rick now uses his data skills to investigate how exposures to common chemicals may be contributing to the epidemics of diabetes and obesity.


Sajitha VeettilakathSajitha Veettilakath
Research Staff Accountant

Sajitha Veettilakath is the Research Accountant for Ob/Gyn.  She has Bachelors in Business Administration from Roberts Wesleyan College and is currently half way through her certification (Certified Management Accountant). Outside of her work, she loves spending time with her family and exploring new places. Her hobbies include baking, crafting, dancing and loves doing anything and everything that is fun, adventurous and challenging!
