Shaw Festival 2022

The Paul M. Schyve Center for Bioethics and Department of Health Humanities & Bioethics sponsored a trip to the Shaw Festival to watch a contemporary version of The Doctor’s Dilemma!

Group photo of people attending the Shaw Festival 2022Though written more than a century ago, George Bernard Shaw’s play remains a relevant way to explore the moral dilemmas created by limited medical resources, and the conflict between medicine as a business and vocation.

We enjoyed a lively moderated after show discussion with an actor, Alexis Gordon who plays Jennifer Dubedat and the Assistant Director, Christopher Manousos.

Our moderators were Dr. Richard Demme, Professor Emeritus, (formerly Director of Clinical Bioethics, Chair of the Strong Memorial Ethics Committee, and co-Chair Coronavirus Ethics Response Group) and Richard Dees, Professor of Philosophy and Health Humanities & Bioethics and Director, Program in Bioethics.
