Clinical Trials

Pediatric Research Clinical TrialsWhy conduct clinical trials? We perform clinical trials to improve the health of children in Rochester, the nation and the world. Who benefits and why are we proud? Our children benefit. Through our achievements and focus on surfactant in premature infants, HIB Vaccine for infants and children and human papillomavirus vaccine for adolescents we  have significantly decreased disease and improved the health of children internationally. Uniquely, we focus on the intersections among basic scientists, translational scientists and clinical researchers involved in our studies. This infrastructure affords the opportunity for research to go from “Bench to Bedside.”

The Department of Pediatrics has over 360 active studies and represents the largest portfolio of studies at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Funding for research emanates from a wide variety of sources such as the federal government, industry and pharmaceutical companies, sponsors, grants, foundations, and departmental research funded by the Department of Pediatrics. Studies encompass a broad range of research endeavors including, clinical trials, behavioral health, health services research, and observation and outcomes research.
