Combined Adult & Pediatric Curriculum

Four-Year Combined Fellowship Curriculum

In the combined four-year fellowship, the fellows have a similar experience to the three-year pediatric fellowship. Two years are spent in pediatrics and two years are spent in adult. Our combined curriculum prepares fellows to care for children and adults with rheumatologic diseases and understand the transition of care from adolescent to adult. In this curriculum, two years of training focus on research and combines adult and pediatric scholarly requirements.

Advantages of the Combined Fellowship

  • Continue combined training, not narrowing focus to an age range
  • Unique opportunities to provide continuity of care
  • Conduct research on a population of patients from infancy to adulthood
  • Dual certification with both ABIM and ABP is a competitive advantage in the job market
  • Could provide a wider base for funding opportunities
