About Me
In 2022 Dr. Mercurio was elected to serve a nine-year term as a Director on the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Mercurio’s areas of clinical expertise focus on women’s dermatologic health including vulvar skin disease, hair growth, adult acne, and dermatologic conditions unique to pregnancy. Her clinical research has primarily focused on alopecia, and she is Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials on alopecia areata, an autoimmune cause of hair loss. She has a national reputation in the area of vulvar disease and has directed a symposium at the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting on genital skin disorders.
Dr. Mercurio is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology, serves on the Cutis editorial board, and has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
