Gina Fries is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) at University of Rochester Medical Center in the Wilmot Cancer Center with over 25 years of experience. She enjoyed the strong provider/patient relationships she built in family medicine at the beginning of her career, and working on the Multiple Myeloma team has again given her this opportunity. These relationships, in conjunction with her diverse medical background, allow her to make thoughtful complex medical decisions to provide the best care possible.

Gina provides care for patients with Multiple Myeloma while evaluating patients in clinic and overseeing the infusion center. She participates in the enrollment of patients onto clinical trials, orders chemotherapy and performs procedures including intrathecal administration of chemotherapy and minimal IV sedation bone marrow biopsies.

Gina is passionate about empowering patients to be active in their cancer treatment decision making process. She believes this gives patients a better overall quality of life and is especially important for patients with Multiple Myeloma as they have a limited life expectancy and there is no cure.

During the course of her career Gina was a member of the Advanced Practice Provider Education Committee for the AUA (American Urological Association). She is currently the Wellness Leader for APPs (Advanced Practice Providers) in the Wilmot Cancer Center.

She has written multiple abstracts and presented posters with the Multiple Myeloma team. She has also presented various topics for Prostate Cancer and Multiple Myeloma at the local, regional and national levels.

Outside of work Gina keeps busy with her husband and boy and girl twins. She spends many weekends visiting her son at college and attending his lacrosse games. Both she and her daughter are aspiring Adirondack 46ers and in her free time, she enjoys being active camping, hiking, and kayaking.
