Dr. Schmale has been a wonderful support for me during the past 2 years that he has treated me. He listens. He understands. He's honest. He gives me options. He reassures me and calms my fears. He's a cheerleader and advocate to get the best care for yourself whether it's with him or someone else. I felt totally at ease when he did my brain surgery. I'm complicated, but he was up for the challenge. Glad to be his patient.

The provider reviewed a CT scan from six years ago. He showed me these images during my visit. Obviously that tells us what was going on six years ago, long before the problem started. He could have viewed MRIs from last year but suggested they were difficult to interpret. He could have ordered new scans but didn't. Made me feel like there were a lot of assumptions. [...]

He should tone down the arrogance and turn up the respect and compassion. He was borderline rude, and I left feeling I was a waste of his time. He had me diagnosed before examining me, reluctantly used a camera to prove he was. One of the things he said during his lecture afterward left me so stunned I stood up, put my sweater on and left. I can't believe I will be paying for this service. I don't know that my diagnosis would have been any different but the experience left me disheartened to say the least.

He was condescending. I did not feel he respected my prior medical history and my personal knowledge of my own situation even after explaining how my issue was corrected in the first place.
