Dr Kathleen Mannava is a native of Spencerport, New York. She completed her undergraduate training at Williams College, in Williamstown, Massachusetts where she graduated with a bachelor of science, cum laude, with honors in chemistry. Dr Mannava then received her medical degree summa cum laude at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Dr Mannava won numerous academic awards and scholarships during her time at SUNY Upstate, including twice winning the Robert Each Award (for earning the highest grade point average after her first and third years in medical school) and being awarded three times the Medical Alumni Merit Award (for being ranked in the top four of her entire medical school class throughout her medical school career). While in medical school, she was also recognized with several Dean's Letters of Commendation, the American Medical Women's Association Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement, the McGraw-Hill Lange Book Award, and the Merck Manual Award.
After graduating from medical school, Dr Kathleen Mannava completed an internal medicine internship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She then completed her dermatology training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. After completing her dermatology training, she worked as a private practice dermatologist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for several years before pursuing sub-specialty training in dermatopathology. She completed a fellowship in dermatopathology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr Mannava then moved to Vail, Colorado and joined another private practice, Vail-Aspen-Breckenridge Dermatology, where she practiced both clinical dermatology and dermatopathology.
As a native of Monroe County, Kathleen Mannava, MD is excited to move back to the region and join the faculty at UR Medicine in Rochester, New York. Dr Mannava looks forward to educating others in the field of dermatology and dermatopathology, as she has a passion for teaching medical students and residents. She has also published several research papers and continues to present at regional, national, and international dermatology conferences.
