Lauren Curran, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, ACHPN, is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in inpatient palliative care at Strong Memorial Hospital. She cares for patients facing serious illness, with a focus on symptom management—including pain, nausea, and anxiety—goals-of-care discussions, complex medical decision-making, and end-of-life care. She also supports patients who are pursuing life-prolonging treatments, helping them feel their best and maintain the highest possible quality of life throughout their care.

Lauren earned her Master of Science in Nursing and completed her Family Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Rochester in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University (2012) and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Simmons University (2009). Prior to her current role, she worked as an inpatient hematology/oncology nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital and later as a nurse practitioner at the Pluta Comprehensive Breast Care Center. Her early experiences in oncology nursing sparked her deep interest in palliative and hospice care.

She is committed to providing whole-person, family-centered care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual impacts of serious illness. She considers it a privilege to partner with and support patients and families during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

Lauren is a fourth-generation Deaf individual, and American Sign Language (ASL) is her first language.

Her special interests within palliative care include ethics, moral distress, diversity, equity, and inclusion; ketamine-assisted psychotherapy; and the evolving role of psychedelics in serious illness care.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her daughters and family. She loves traveling, hiking, visiting farmers markets and thrift stores, and savoring a good cup of coffee.
