Vanessa Riley is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of healthcare experience, including extensive work in infectious diseases, long-term care, and hospital medicine.

At URMC, she brings a wealth of clinical expertise and leadership, having transitioned from licensed practical nurse to nursing supervisor to advanced practice provider. Vanessa is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing alongside a degree in Computer Science, with a research focus on the application of artificial intelligence in clinical settings.

Her doctoral work investigates AI-driven models for evaluating and predicting hypertension-related complications in patients with infectious diseases—aiming to improve early detection, patient safety, and healthcare outcomes through data-driven insights.

She is passionate about advancing interdisciplinary collaboration, mentoring future providers, and developing innovative, evidence-based approaches to modern healthcare challenges.
