I decided to become a Heme Onc Hospitalist because I love the variety internal medicine offers and have a passion for taking care of patients with cancer. As a Heme Onc Hospitalist I care for patients coming to the hospital with complications from their cancer or cancer related treatments. This often involves infection, uncontrolled symptoms, pain management and end of life care. I work closely with the patient’s primary hematologist or oncologist as well as the palliative care team. I feel it is paramount to provide all patients - particularly those going through something as challenging as cancer - with a strong, supportive and compassionate team and I am proud to be a part of that.
