Dr. Soniwala is a native of Buffalo, NY. He completed his undergraduate education at Canisius College, receiving a B.S. in biology. He then completed a service year at City Year Boston, an AmeriCorps program, during which time he worked in an elementary school with select students one-on-one and in small groups. He then moved to Erie, PA to complete his medical education at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester. He was fortunate to stay on as a Chief Resident for the Internal Medicine Residency and truly enjoyed the mentoring and educational aspects of the role. He looks forward to continue to mentor and educate learners in both the residency and medical school. He is also looking forward to working on specialized hospitalist services, including hepatology and the Wilmot Cancer Center, where he can gain experience managing these subspecialized patient populations. His interests outside of medicine include backpacking/hiking trips, skiing, and other outdoor adventures, along with being a foodie. He is an avid Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, and is looking forward to a championship from both teams at some point in his life.
