Dr. Timothy Hansen is a Central New York native, born and raised in the small town of Weedsport, NY, about an hour east of Rochester. He subsequently migrated to Buffalo, NY, where he spent close to a decade completing his undergraduate studies, followed be medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo. During his undergraduate years, he majored in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience, also obtaining a minor in pharmacology/toxicology. As of part of his undergraduate study, he pursued basic science research in neurodegenerative diseases, which he was involved with through the duration of a gap year prior to starting medical school. He then moved to Rochester, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester. Dr. Hansen’s career interests, as related to his role as an academic hospitalist, include continued involvement in medical education, global/international health and the care of patients with advanced heart failure in conjunction with colleagues in cardiology, with an emphasis on clinical decision-making as it pertains to high value, cost effective care for all patients.
